Sprinklings of Christmas

This year I changed our Christmas decorations up a bit.  I just wanted a more homemade, kid friendly look.  I threw out half the stuff I've had in years past and started crafting.  This is my favorite picture and this Santa is huge!  I meant to get these stockings monogrammed this year, but it didn't happen.

Our 9 foot, real tree is my favorite thus far.  The paper chain took a couple of hours to make, but I love how it turned out.  All the ornaments are things the the kids have made, or simple knitted ornaments.

This is the tree in the girls room.  They love the pink!

These candle holders were the extra couple of feet of our tree, we way over estimated the height, and didn't want that $6 a foot to go to waste!  All of the pine cones around the house are cinnamon scented, which adds so much warmth.

This is our entry table.  I made the mason jar snow globes and the peace blocks came from TJ Max for only $9.99!

This Southern Living card holder has been around for several years, but I think I need a second one.  I love Christmas cards and would leave this up year round if the hubby would let me!

This calendar is one of my favorite Canton finds.  Even though one of my hooligans colored all over it, but you can't see that in the picture.  Just adds character, right?

Our kitchen table isn't my favorite of years past.  I feel like it needs a little something, but haven't figured out what that something is?

I am reusing paper from the past couple of years and just added 2 balls of yarn.

I probably won't have time to blog again between now and Christmas, so I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas with lots of memories!

My Little Man

My baby is now 18 months.  We had his check up at the doctor a couple of days ago.  The conversation with her went something like this...

Doc - So how are his verbal skills?
Me - Define verbal skills.
Doc - How many words is he using?
Me - Like, that we can understand?  Maybe 3 or 4?
Doc - (writing frantically in his folder) Well, how often does he have his pacifier?
Me - Only in bed.  (yeah right, only like 20 hours of the day)
Doc - It's probably about time to get rid of that.
Me - I know, I am going to work on that really hard.  (Whatever.  He's taking that thing to kindergarten.)
Doc - So is he only using a sippy cup now?
Me - Oh yes, he loves it!  (Umm...no, he still has about 3 bottles a day and loves that.)
Doc - Okay, well he looks great!  Just work on making him use his words instead of pointing and grunting for something.
Me - Absolutely, only words from here on out.  (He can get speech therapy in a few years if he's still not talking, right?)

To say that this little guy is spoiled rotten is an understatement.  He has 3 girls wrapped around his tiny fingers and he can pretty much do no wrong.  When I delivered the bruiser, one of the first things I said was, "what on earth am I going to do with a boy"?  It took me awhile to get used to his smelly toots and fire hose that sprayed everything, but it didn't take me long to realize how special that bond is between a mother and son.  The girls came out of the womb wanting to fight with me.  He came out of the womb wanting to love me.  He's rough.  He's tough.  He's a snuggler.  He's crazy attached to his bunkiepacie (that's a blankie and pacie at our house).  He's mischievous.  He's a climber.  He's obsessed with balls.  He's the baby and we couldn't imagine our lives without him.

Sorry for the lack of great pictures.  He's also very active and won't be still long enough to get a good picture.

Bunkiepacie lovins

This is his "cheeeese" face.

Ball.  One of the 3 words he uses regularly.

Can we say braces?  Hey Bucky.

My Forever 29

I just realized just how bad of a blogger I have been, but quite frankly, I don't even know what day it is?  Once January gets here my life should slow down and I will be a better blogger for my 3 readers.  So, December 4th was my birthday.  I just love birthdays.  It's the one day of the year that's all about me.  This year I mentioned to my dear friend, Misty, that this would be the last year I celebrate.  From here on out when you ask me how old I am, I will always say 29.  I just don't want to move into my 30's.  That seems so old.  I've had several of my "older" friends talk about how when they turned 29, the effects of age start to kick in.  Well, mine was pretty much instant.  I gained 5 pounds, noticed my first little wrinkle and the gray hairs are seriously out of control.  Thank the Lord I get my hair did for free, or homegirl would be filing bankruptcy.

My birthday turned out to be such a wonderful day.  I woke up and went to Canton First Monday with my Momma and found some great things there.  Then I came home to presents and cards from the Hubby and kiddos.  Took a very unusual nap for about an hour (I don't take naps. Ever.)  Then got all dressed up for my Forever 29 Vegas themed birthday party at the Magic Time Machine.  Misty really outdid herself.  We all had a blast and even "went out" after dinner.  We didn't come home until 2 am and it only took me 3 days to recover.  This Momma needs her sleep.  Here are some pictures from the party...

Thanks to all who ventured to the big city, in the nasty weather, to celebrate my last birthday!
