Hendrix Sloan

He finally arrived!  Yes, I said HE.  Hendrix Sloan Green was born on August 20, 2012 at 2:02 pm.  He weighed 8 lbs. 9 oz. and was 20.5 inches long.  Here's my birth story for those that are interested...

All of my babies prior had been born on the 37th week of pregnancy.  In fact, we had to take measures and meds to make sure they stayed in that long.  I just assumed that my 4th would follow suit?  Not so much.  At 35 weeks the baby was measuring big and my cervix had started to thin and I was dilated to a 1.  Same at 36 weeks.  Same at 37 weeks.  Same at 38 weeks.  What on earth?  At my 38 week appt my doctor stripped my membranes which should have sent me into labor, but instead it sent me to triage all day with hard contractions, but no progression.  I cried the whole way home.

My doctor gave me the option of inducing at 39 weeks if I was interested.  Let me start by saying that if it had of been one of the 3 before, I don't think I would have even considered an induction.  I was always of the mindset that the baby will come when it is ready.  However, it is August.  Enough said?  This is my most miserable pregnancy, I knew we weren't off on our due date, I knew this baby was big and I wanted him OUT.  Not to mention that at this point I only had 6 weeks of maternity leave left and I wanted as much time with him in my arms as possible.  All that being said, we scheduled for 8:00 am on August 20th.

5:30 - Alarm goes off
6:00 - I'm out of the shower, legs are shaved, makeup is being perfectly put on, hair is styled in big barrel curls.  I'm lookin good
6:45 - We head to Baylor Dallas
7:15 - We stop for breakfast tacos at Taco Joint
7:45 - I check into L&D
8:30 - Pitocin starts pumping through my veins
11:00 - I ask for an epidural, not because I was in pain, but because I knew my doctor would be there soon to break my water and I wanted the epidural before all that happened.
12:00 - Check me and I'm dilated to a 4 and 90% thinned
12:45 - My doctor breaks my water
1:30 - Check me and I'm a 7
1:45 - I feel the need to push
2:02 - Hendrix Sloan enters the world

By far my fastest and easiest delivery.  If I had to do it all over again, I would have done it exactly the same.  It was calm, there was no pain, I didn't break a sweat, he came out happy and healthy.  Come to find out the little stinker was sunny side up which explained why he never dropped and why my tailbone was killing me those last few weeks.  Here he is...

My beautiful sister, Heather, who is expecting her 3rd boy in January.  I see lots of cousin time in our future!

Lola holding Hendrix for the first time.  Homegirl is never seen without gum in her mouth.

This pretty much sums up how Becks felt about his brother the first day.

First family photo.

Proud daddy.

Second day was a little better.  He would actually touch the baby.

Home sweet home.

We are all in love.  He is such a sweet baby.  He only cries when he's hungry and nurses like a champ.  We could not feel more blessed with our little miracle.
